The following is a potential list of activities that are being discussed. As plans are finalized for each event the information will be posted to the website.  These events are being planned as special activities for the centennial.  There may also be other activities so keep watching!!

 Bike Ride
Linda Roberts

As part of the Arma Centennial celebration,
Tailwind Cyclists,  owned by Roger Lomshek,
is sponsoring a fifteen-mile fun bike ride
 Saturday morning, August 8.
Cycling participants should assemble at the
Arma Elementary School by 9:15 a.m. 
The first ten cyclists to the starting area will receive
a free Tailwind Cyclists T-shirt.

Beginners are welcome, so join in the fun! 
This fun bike ride will begin at 9:45 a.m.,
preceding the Arma Homecoming Parade
which begins at 10:00 a.m.


Birthday celebration

The official birthday of Arma, Kansas
 is May 18, 1909, when it became incorporated
as a third class city.
Two celebrations will be held with the schools
on May 14 and 15. 
On August 9, 2009, during the evening festivities
of the Homecoming, the Centennial Committee
will again treat those present
with birthday cake.

Great Polka Music by a local legend. Johnnie & Johnnie Joe
have been providing entertainment to southeast Kansas
for many years.   Come out and enjoy an enjoyable
atmosphere of that good old fashioned polka music. 


A portable dance floor will provide a suitable dancing
surface for this outdoor dance.


History Book

In conjuction with Arma's Centennial,
the Centennial Committe announces plans
for the publication of an Arma Centennial
History Book. 

This hardback book will feature a
"scrapbook" format with photos,
memories, newspaper clippings and more
from the past 100 years of Arma's history.

This book will be of excellent quality, beautiful,
permanent, hardbound. This will be a
Limited Edition printing and the book is
certain to have collector's value in time.
Reserve your personal copies now to be sure
you get them.  This will make a handsome and
memorable gift. 
The Centennial Committee is taking pre-orders
for the history book now at the price of

Geo-caching

Join in the fun by locating the
Arma Centennial mystery geocache.
To get started come to the Arma Centennial
registration booth Friday evening through
Sunday noon to register and
pick up the required information. 
After locating four sites,  you will be able
to decode the location of the mystery geocache. 

Locating the mystery geocache
will have its own reward of a
Centennial commemorative coin
if you return the geocache and
entry forms to the Centennial table. 
Be sure to sign the geocache log
and if you have registered and
completed the search,
you will be entered in a drawing
for $100.00 on Sunday evening
preceding the Arma Homecoming drawings.

Fireworks

Plan to attend the centennial fireworks display
to start at the end of the first session of
the Chubby Carrier Band (Approximately 9:30PM)
If you are at the dance, look to the East
towards the High School.
Fireworks will be shot from the
High School football field.

Parade
Homecoming Committee

We invite all classes to consider floats,
ball teams, cheerleaders, etc.
to take part in the parade this year. 
The homecoming committee is asking that all former “Homecoming Queens” ride in the parade. 

We are also looking for residents (or former residents)
who will be celebrating their 99th or 100th birthday.

Classic Car Display

Owners of classic and antique cars are invited
to take part in the Homecoming Parade
and spend the rest of the day displaying
their vehicles.    No judging for the display  but just a
fun day for everyone.   Judging does take place
in the parade.

We plan to inspire classes to gather "in Arma" and
have a central location to meet. 
We would like for everyone to plan their activities
 in Arma to make the Centennial Celebration and
the Arma Homecoming a special event.
Tables and chairs will be available
and sections will be available by decade.

special feature article in
Southeast Kansas Living Magazine.
This magazine will be available
for sale in the collectible tent.
