2003:  Arma City Library was founded in November of 1993. Members of the Alpha Kappa Chapter of Phi Tau Omega National Philanthropic Sorority were instrumental in its founding.

The library offers a variety of services for the public including a wide selection of fiction, non-fiction, western, science fiction, mystery, young adult and juvenile books.  Movies, audio books and Internet access are also available. Though the library is primarily a recreational reading facility, we do have a limited number of reference volumes available. Back issues of the Arma City Record, a local newspaper that went out of business in the 1970's, are stored at the library and careful use of them is allowed.

We are a member of the Southeast Kansas Library System and are able to obtain materials through the Inter-Library loan program.  Other services include a copier and fax machine. Copies are 10 cents a page.  If more than one page is needed, the first page is free.  Faxes are $1.00 for the first sheet and 50 cents for every sheet thereafter, sent or received.

A recent expansion of the library was the addition of a teen reading room.  Local teen artists painted the murals of classic and current book covers on the walls of the room.  Teens are invited to come and relax, do homework, read and socialize.  A general reading area is available in the back.

The library has also acquired a microfilm reader/printer.   Arma's local newspaper "The Arma Record" (which is no longer in print) has been microfilmed and may be viewed at the library.

Regular programming:
                Children's Summer Reading Program (June)
Spring Turkey Hunting and Hunting Safety Seminar (March)
Beginning Internet Use for Adults (Fall)
                Parents as Teachers

Previous Location:  501 North West Street, Arma, Kansas   Grand opening of new location was July, 2004.
