Wee Waddle Daycare

My name is Kay Gorentz, and I own and operate Wee Waddle Daycare, at 605 East Hector Avenue, in Arma, Kansas. The Gorentz family has been in this small town for generations, and I feel blessed to have married into the family and this community. My family includes my husband David and my children, Dana, Joel, Katy, and Lucas, who are grown. Also included in my extended family are all the children who I have helped area parents raise. It is such a rewarding experience to speak with parents, who were once my
daycare children, as they share the lives of their own children.

I became a licensed, KBI-registered childcare home in 1992, an Early Head Start provider in 2000, and received/continue to maintain my Child Development Associate (CDA) since 2002. I am certified in infant/child First Aid, CPR, AED, injury trauma, and SIDS safe sleep policy. At present, I am working towards my Early Childhood Education Degree.

I provide full-time care for ages infant to school age children, early morning hours (before 7:00) can be accommodated, and I often have summer slots available. I do my best to maintain a low child per staff ratio. Introduction to Creative Curriculum introduced by Early Head Start is the learning foundation for infant through toddler ages, and preschool activities are provided free of charge for preschool age children. I do accept children attending Arma preschool, but  unfortunately parents must provide transportation to and from school unless the parent speaks to the Head Start Program in regards to whether their child meets transportation guidelines.

My home is in a quiet neighborhood away from busy traffic. I have four rooms in my home dedicated as interactive child environments. Infants have a separate area from the toddler/preschool children, but each area is connected to maintain constant observation and interaction. Sand and water play is available daily on the covered deck leading out to a
well-furnished, separated toddler/preschool playground, an infant area, and school age playground.

I have many resources available for qualifying families in need of assistance, including Department for Children and Families (DCF), Early Head Start (EHS), and Crawford County Teen Mothers Program. I participate in Child Care Aware of SEK ~ Strengthening Families, Smart Start, Kansas Early Learning Collaborative (KELC) programs, which conduct an overall rating scale in the daycare every six months. Children's Nutrition Services is on contract to help educate and reimburse for meals while children are in care, insuring healthy growth through nutritionally balanced meals. My long-term commitment is to maintain growth in my facility, further my education in child development, and to maintain a nurturing, caring, and loving home for my extended family.
